I say 'trying' to apply for this show because something different has happened this week.
Since I decided that I wanted to make art again, in spite of having children, I adopted the practice of staying up into the wee hours of the morning, sometimes with the aid of some green tea and audio books, in order to carve out the time for studio. I think many parents do this, if they have consuming hobbies like mine.
Anyway, a couple late nights would usually punt me ahead creatively, and then I would rest for the remainder of the week, more or less.
This week, I stayed up later than my usual 1am-1:30am cutoff time hoping to wrap up a big felt basket I've been working on. It got to be 2:30am, I was nowhere near completion; Oliver woke up so I called it quits and went to bed.
The thing is... I have been completely drained ever since, unable to do any work at all. This is very much a glimpse of reality for craftspeople all over the world, who are unable to earn an income when they are sick or disabled in some way.
