These are some alders, steaming in the early morning sunlight. The kids were really annoyed with me for dragging them back to the house for the camera for this shot, but I'm glad I did.
G lectured me sternly about cutting live plants, but I only took the switches that had been broken by passing dogs. I'll admit that I was was sorely tempted to cut some... but it is rather vulgar to harvest from living bushes in a public park, no matter how wild and random it may be.
I made sure I took all the broken ones, though.
We settled for rolling the pieces around, and debating whether to bring a chunk home for play value.
That question was settled by the fact that it was too heavy for me to carry.
